Welcome to the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID).
You are joining the only Biosafety Level (BSL) 4 research facility in the Department of Defense and the largest biocontainment research facility in the nation. USAMRIID is home to cutting-edge research where our people have proudly worked together to develop diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines to counter biological threats since 1969. Our mission is unique, and it requires a diligent effort by all of USAMRIID's staff so that the warfighter can remain safe from biological threats while operating around the world. Each Soldier and Civilian assigned to USAMRIID has an important role in achieving our mission; therefore, your success is our success, and we are invested in you.
Prior to arrival, please submit the following information to your sponsor: Leave Dates, PCS Orders, End of Month LES, and Permissive TDY approved before arrival.
Upon arrival at Fort Detrick, service members must make contact with their sponsor. All newly assigned military members will report to the USAMRIID Entry Control Point (the Alamo), Building 1414. The sponsor is responsible to escort the new service member in and around the campus, prepare network access documents and assist with all other in-processing requirements.
Please do not contact MPD directly; your sponsor will assist you in submitting the in-processing packet through S1.
