— Fellowships available through The National Research Council (NRC) Competitive awards are available for scientists to conduct independent research at USAMRIID. NRC Research Associates are able to advance their careers by conducting research full time in the Department of Defense’s lead laboratory for medical biological defense research. Successful fellows can work alongside, and be mentored by, internationally renowned subject matter experts in genomics, virology, bacteriology, biochemistry, pathology, diagnostics, aerobiology, synthetic biology, immunology, and regulatory science. Opportunities exist to elucidate cellular and molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis, as well as to study immune responses toward various bio-threat agents. The ultimate goal is to understand pathogenesis and then use that information to develop innovative approaches towards generating vaccines and novel therapeutics against select agents. The latter include, but are not limited to, Francisella tularensis, Bacillus anthracis, Yersinia pestis, Burkholderia mallei, Clostridium botulinum, Staphylococcus aureus, and the Ebola and Marburg viruses. Visit the NRC website Requirements include Ph.D. and U.S. Citizenship (or select Green Card holders). Awards include attractive stipends, health insurance, professional travel, and relocation. Prospective applicants should directly contact specific mentors/advisors. Additional questions can be sent via email to the Laboratory Program Representative (LPR) for USAMRIID. Contact information for the LPR is found on the NRC website. At the bottom, click on Participating Agencies List; select U.S. Army Medical Research & Materiel Command; then go to U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases - Frederick, MD to send an email. |
